Help me decide on this year's Fair entries...pretty please

It's almost county/state fair time, which means I need to decide this week what images I'll be entering. And I NEED your help. I can enter 3 images and would like them to all be in different categories (otherwise I'm competing against myself...). Please review the options below and then vote for your three favorites (and the ones you think the judges will like the best). If you have any comments/thoughts/suggestions, please feel free to leave those as well. Or if you can think of an image you've seen but that isn't here which you're sure would take home a big prize...send that thought my way as well.

Time to vote! Remember, you need to vote for three total, but I can only enter one from each category, so keep that in mind when voting.

Janelle said...: Yeah, I'm having a hard time, too. For the botanical category, I would definitely go with the leaves. IT was one of your first photos I ever saw, and I loved it immediately.

On the wedding ones, I wouldn't pick Jocilyn. It's a beautiful photo, but it doesn't show her, and that's what people want to see with wedding photography (although this isn't intentional advertising, it will advertise your work). I would go with Zack & Chelsea and/or Andressa. Laura & Nick is a great photo, but there's nothing exceptional about it among 100 other great wedding photos.

The Female portraiture is really tough. Prianka's shoot is one of my favorite femininity shoots you've done, but the photo of Laurie is really unique.; July 21, 2009 at 2:23 PM

What if you woke up one day and realized you had two passions in life: your family and your photography. And you weren’t willing to let one or the other go. Well, let me tell you. The time on your phone would brightly glare out, 4:13 am. You’d wonder why you were awake. Oh, that’s right. Your baby still doesn’t sleep through the night.

What if the next time you checked your phone, still awake mind you, it said, 5:17 am. You’d again question your not sleeping awake status. But oh, that’s right. You can’t turn your creative little mind off and it’s always on photography.

You know what your husband is dreaming about.

It’s not photography.

So you slip out of bed to squeeze in a few uninterrupted hours of design time. Then, like clock-work, your family comes alive, oh say around 7:14. (Well Ella wakes up then, Jordan’s a minute behind, because seriously, who sets their alarm for :14 anything?)

By noon you’re beat. Exhausted. This is madness you think. And then you realize it’s nap time. Suddenly, all the world is well. You lay down next to your angelic daughter (all children resemble angels when sleeping) and think how lucky you are to have the best of both worlds, madness included. No studio hours to keep, no baby sitters to pay. Just you. Your family, your business. At home. Loving Life.

It works for me.
