Yeah! Project Femininity has offically begun shooting. And while there will be two posts to come before more of this gorgeousness (I have to go in order, it's only fair, and I've still got one more stunning CT post + a really fun Park City family reunion), I had to put up a teaser from today's shoot. There was outfit changing on the roof tops, a soccer ball, a few other creative props, one gorgeous & brillant young lady, (well two, but Ella didn't look much like a lady by the time we finished) and a few 8-month shots for Ella. I'll let you guess how she got so dirty...
(And yes, I am still accepting recruits for PF, so if you're interested and haven't emailed me yet, today is the day! And if you don't know what the heck I'm talking about, scroll down to the only post in July.)

Justin & Randi
Justin & Randi were less than thrilled with their original wedding photos. So seven years later (well, something close to that) they decided it was time for some pictures that actually represented them as a couple. I had my work cut out for me because they totally have their own vibe that's so energetic and unique. Justin isn't into the lovely dovey engagement pictures everyone else takes. So we set out to have fun and find some crazy locations. Which we did. We shot at a parking garage, meat packing plant, Ikea, and under an over pass. I'm telling you, anywhere can be a great location; you just have to play your cards right. Oh, and having the funnest couple help as well. I really didn't feel like I was working when I shot these.

The Taylor Family
I just love their last name. And Jenny's middle name (Elizabeth) and her daughters name (Annie). (FYI: my maiden name was Elizabeth Ann Taylor). But besides the names, I am a total sucker for Annie's blue eyes. She was so fun running around. But she found Ella was more amusing than me, so I had to have Jordan hide her for a couple of shots if I wanted eye contact with the camera. This was my second last shoot at Yale at I love some of the places we discovered, especially these in front of the library door. It was getting harder and harder to be creative when working on campus, but these guys made it easy. I always love when parents can just naturally play with their children in front of the camera. It makes for the best pictures and the best memories. So all I had to do is just shoot away.

I'm the sucker!
So the lab that I work with usually sends a blowpop with each order. I rarely get around to eating these and today Ella found one. She loves to play with candy wrappers, and since this sucker was still in one, I let her have at it. I heard her crinkling it behind me for a while and then I saw that she'd started to crawl around with it in her mouth. I thought it was kind of cute and was thinking to myself, "isn't it funny she's sucking on that like she knows it's candy or something..." Then I started to think about the potential danger she could be in if she fell (which she often does) and that was in her mouth. Not quite as bad as running with scissors, but I decided I should probably take it away. That was when I really looked at what she was doing, and the pink drool now covering her face, shirt, and my carpet. She then pulled the sucker out almost as if she was teasing me. "Look what I did mom." She's no sucker. I am.

Erin, Jon & Espen
So Espen wasn't having the best morning. He woke up way too early (excited for the shoot I'm sure) and was running a bit low on energy by the time we made it to the beach. However, I still love how these turned out. I know his mom wished he was a bit more smiley, but I love portraits of little kids when they aren't smiling, but wide eyed looking at the world. We played around at the beach for a while and then headed to downtown Branford to shoot infront of a red door I'd been coveting to shoot in front of since I first started working out there. I'm such a sucker for red and loved it with everyone's blue outfits. We also found these crazy random metal bars that we used as a jungle gym since the one we thought we'd go to was all locked up. The blue sky was perfect. And how can you go wrong with red hair like Erin's? It's gorgeous. (Plus I think it's totally cool that they all have such different hair colors.)
